“Why is nutrition
important when
exercise should be enough?”
Dear Dr. Lynne
Kavulich,
I have started
exercising regularly. My trainer keeps telling me I have to
eat a nutritious diet along with exercising in order to lose
weight. Why is nutrition important when exercise should be
enough?
John - Detroit MI.
Dear John,
Regular exercise
is a step in the right direction in your journey toward a
healthy body. However, in order for you to lose the ultimate
amount of weight and also keep your body healthy, you must
eat a nutritious diet. If you exercise, but in turn increase
the amount of refined carbohydrates and unhealthy fats that
you eat, the two activities will cancel each other out and
you will not lose weight. If you exercise and start eating a
low-fat, low-sugar diet, you will lose more weight more
quickly and will end up with a healthier body.
Sincerely,
Dr. Lynne Kavulich
